Located at the end of the Yucatan Peninsula, Cozumel continues to be known for its fantastic fishing spots and the possibility to practice snorkeling and diving. Despite the recent increase in tourism, the island and its only village, San Miguel, maintain its local charm. The Cozumel Reefs National Park hosts multiple diving areas around the Mesoamerican reef. Close to it, you will also find the submerged sculptures of the Underwater Museum of Art. Chankanaab is an ecological park surrounding a lagoon full of underwater caverns and, it also houses dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles.
You should know about Cozumel
Famous for its beaches and history; Cozumel is a destination where you will find Maya Ruins and various tours for you to go diving, navigating, SUV driving, and much more. This seaside city has taxis, buses, and bicycles; so, there are plenty of ways for you to discover it! Are you a foodie? Do not miss the chance to try one of the most delicious dishes of the region! Cochinita Pibil is an orange juice and achiote marinated pork dish served with sliced red onion and habanero.
